To many personality traits are being commingled with introversion. Yes, social situations are draining. Being alone in quite places recharges my batteries. In school I was almost voted most shy. Then a classmate pointed out that I wasn't shy, just quiet. On Myers-Briggs I'm clearly an introvert; something it has taken me a long time to accept (I'm nearly 50). However, to suggest that introverts are less risky is not accurate. My introvert friend flies small planes to lonely places. I ride (and occasionally crash) big and fast motorcycles. To suggest that introverts don't throw, hit, run or steal as well as extroverts isn't right either. I do those things as well as most people. Neither am I scattered, slow or indecisive. I'm goal oriented. I am a good administrator and readily resolve conflicts. I have no problems being confrontational. Where it describes how introverts handle social settings and the noisy world and people around them, it hits the nail on the head. Where it equates introversion with a lack of physical ability, aimlessness, indecisiveness, etc., it is off the mark. This book started off as promising and then after a few chapters I realized I was not at all interested in finishing it. I am an introvert so was hoping for some great insights. This author does have a few good ideas which are based on her personal experiences. She does not appear to have any training at all in Psychology or in related fields, and often says some things which are just plain incorrect. She also goes off an tangent subjects and personal stories which are really not interesting and are not relevant either. There is a pervaling atmosphere of an arrogant attitude on the author's part, which is very offputting. I really didn't need to read about how she always believed she was very pretty! Meh! I debated about giving this one or two stars and gave it two, but that was a stretch.
