Everyone learns differently and this book was not for me. It is divided up in to 8 keys and throughout the book the keys are referenced in such a way that you need to have memorized the keys to know which one the author is talking about. I found this frustrating as I did not want to keep flipping back and forth to know which key she was talking about within the chapter of another key. Also, this book featured many exercises to perform in the middle of the chapters. Like get up, get pen/paper/tablet and answer numerous questions. I was not looking to do anything other than read about this topic. I’m sure the exercises are beneficial, but I was not in a position to do the exercises and when I did try I found them frustrating as there is no one to provide you feedback. Also way too many questions for the exercises which also made me frustrated because we are told to repeat these exercises during events/interactions as they come up in our lives. No way I can remember the questions or remember which ones to go back to. I also do not find journaling helpful for me, so the approach of this book was not beneficial for me personally. It also felt very superficial for the topic and I felt like I did not get much from it after reading the entire thing.
I can now see very clearly what passive aggression looks like and I'm certainly surprised! For instance, my son has a teacher this year that is ambiguous in assignments. My son has asked for clarity a few times, and been ignored. Before reading this I would have viewed that as laziness, but it isn't! It's part of a passive aggressive personality. I learned a lot even about myself too!
